Our Services

The GEOSET Initiative, a part of FSU Libraries, offers free digital media services to the FSU community. Anyone within the FSU community is encouraged to contact us about projects that advance scholarly communications, including faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Our goal is to help you share your work with the widest possible audience, whether through video, audio, or other digital media.

Below you will find Services at GEOSET, as well as Related Services at FSU. Because each project is unique, and our availability fluctuates throughout the year, please reach out to us through our project request form and we will work together to determine exactly how we might support your work.

Services at GEOSET

Video Production Support

One of the best ways to share your research or scholarly work is through video. GEOSET offers pre-production consultations, use of production equipment and studio space, and help with post-production. Since capacity is limited, those interested in GEOSET video services for their project are encouraged to get in touch as soon as possible. Please submit a consultation request, and a member of our team will get in touch.

Podcast Production

Whether you are trying to launch your own podcast or have been invited to be a guest on another podcast, GEOSET is your one-stop shop for your podcast production needs. With professional-grade microphones, sound mixing equipment, a professionally sound-proofed studio, and the staff to use them, we handle all the technical issues with recording a radio-ready interview.

Media Production Studios

For Faculty, staff, and graduate researchers and students, we offer use of the main GEOSET studio located on the second floor of the Dirac Science Library on FSU’s main campus. The main GEOSET studio requires submitting a project request, after which we will discuss your project and reserve the studio for your use.

Additionally, the Media Suite @ Dirac is a small-group recording studio openly available to everyone in the FSU community. It has professional audio recording equipment, a green screen, studio lighting, and a high-powered editing station. The Media Suite @ Dirac does not require a consultation, and is reserved through FSU Libraries’ booking system for up to 4 hours per day.

Media Production Workshops

If you're teaching a class, a digital media project can be an excellent way to engage students and give them meaningful skills for our increasingly digital world. Many students, however, may not be aware of how to use audio/video tools nor the many resources offered by FSU Libraries. Our team can present to your class, sharing resources and tools to help them create a professional-level media project. Please submit a consultation request, and a member of our team will be in touch to discuss details.

On-location Recording & Livestreaming

Offered on a limited basis, GEOSET can record and livestream your scholarly event. This service is reserved for public-facing, academically-focused events that present research to a broad audience. We primarily offer live streaming through the FSU Libraries YouTube page for the best end-user experience. If you are interested in recording and streaming your event please reach out as soon as possible, and at least two weeks prior to the event date. Please submit a consultation request, and a member of our team will get in touch.

Research & Grant Supplements

Want to integrate audiovisual elements into your research or grant proposal? Want to explain your project to potential participants? GEOSET can help produce content to show the broader impact of your work and improve community outreach. Please submit a consultation request, and we can determine how we can best help you enrich your research or grant with digital media.
