From Publication to Participation: Digital Storytelling and the Future of Research Communication
GEOSET and Florida State University Libraries invite proposals for a new interdisciplinary symposium exploring how researchers are sharing knowledge beyond traditional academic journals.
Across disciplines, scholars are increasingly using podcasts, video, streaming platforms, and other forms of digital storytelling to communicate research to broader audiences. This symposium will highlight innovative approaches to research dissemination and public engagement taking place across the Florida State University community.
We welcome proposals from FSU faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students in any discipline.
Submissions are intentionally open and flexible. Participants are encouraged to propose presentations in the format that best fits their work, including:

Lectures or research presentations

Panel discussions

Poster presentations

Digital posters

Video or multimedia projects

Interactive demonstrations

Lightning talks

Other creative formats
Projects may include completed work, works in progress, teaching efforts, or experimental approaches to communicating research.
The event will take place on September 11, 2026, with a 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM informal opening session and the main program running from 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM.
Proposal submission deadline: July 10, 2026
